Market research on the Street SmartHandbook had shown that the covers in particular were considered by the target audience to be dull and boring so I was commissioned to design a revised cover for the series of handbooks. The handbooks are directed toward secondary school leavers so inspiration was drawn from the popular culture of teens such as music and television. The end result was derived from various dance and gig posters that are also often directed towards the same target audience.
